Sustainability in hotel operations
Our steps towards climate and environmental protection
Growing up in the Tannheimer Tal in the midst of beautiful nature is probably a small privilege.
But unfortunately we often forget to appreciate the advantages that come with it.
Nevertheless, we – the Barbist family & TeamTyrol – have made it our mission to appreciate and protect not only this magnificent corner of the world, but also the whole world.
Implementing a sustainability strategy in a hotel is a long and difficult process, but it is definitely feasible.
We have taken the first steps towards climate and environmental protection.

Photovoltaic system
We are particularly proud of the large photovoltaic system, which has a proven track record of diligently generating electricity from solar energy for our hotel.
The system is installed over a large area on the hotel roof in the atrium area and has been working for us since July 2021.
We receive additional electricity from the Schattwald power station.

Regenerative local heating
Our heating requirements are covered by the wood chip-fired local heating plant in Grän.
If you cover your heating requirements with biomass-based local heating, you emit almost no CO2 and, in particular, reduce pollutants from your own fireplace, such as particulate matter, sulphur dioxide and nitrogen oxides.
That is environmental protection in action!
This is another reason why the expansion of and switch to renewable local heating is supported by the public sector.
As a hotel business, this makes us less dependent on oil and gas.
E-car charging station
Two type 2 charging stations (11 kW each) are available for electric cars in our underground parking garage, which is free of charge for hotel guests.
Using your RFID card or QR code (payment by credit card or PayPal), you can activate the charging station and charge your electric car for a fee.
Once you have finished charging, it is best to move your car to another parking space so that the next guests can also use the charging station.
Paperless offices
For several years now, we have deliberately dispensed with printouts and opted for digital filing.
To further optimize this, we first show our guests the final invoice on a tablet.
On request, we will be happy to send you the invoice by e-mail or print it out for you.
Our Tyrol morning post is available for you daily in printed form on your breakfast table.
You have the option of accessing the morning post, our Hotel Tyrol brochures, all food and drink menus and other information conveniently in digital form via our Tyrol app.
The Tyrol app is available to download from the general cell phone stores.

The “Bewusst Tirol” initiative recognizes businesses in the catering and hotel industry that demonstrably focus on sourcing products from the region.
Hotel Tyrol am Haldensee has also received this award!
Thanks to our high use of local products, some of which come directly from the Tannheimer Tal, we are not only a role model for a regionally conscious tourism industry.
Our hotel guests also benefit from particularly high-quality cuisine thanks to the “Bewusst Tirol” seal.
